Big dreams. Good study.
Where curiosity becomes journalism
My interest in foreign languages is closely tied to my family history. According to my father, my grandfather spoke seven foreign languages. His story made me wonder whether I had a talent for languages too and whether I could follow in his footsteps.
So I started learning English and French in first grade. French has a special meaning for our family: my grandfather was friends with Charles Aznavour, the famous French chansonnier of Armenian descent. Thanks to my father’s stories, from the very start, French was connected for me not only with school, but also with our family history.
In 2021 I started learning Chinese. This time it was a conscious choice, driven not only by my interest in languages but also by an understanding of China’s growing role in the modern world. Later I also began learning Spanish, broadening my view of different linguistic and cultural spaces. Besides these languages, I also tried learning German, and I achieved good results in it at school.
Today English, French, Chinese and Spanish hold an important place in my education. For me, learning them is not just about gaining language skills – it is a chance to better understand people, cultures and the global information space.
My grandfather’s family story was the starting point, and learning languages gradually became an independent and important part of my education.
A love of books, essays and languages gradually shaped my interest in journalism: I enjoy exploring topics, working with information, finding an expressive form for my thoughts and telling other people about important events.
I study English, French and Chinese, and previously also studied Spanish and German.
I have been learning Chinese since 2021. In summer 2025 I studied in a language program at Dalian Polytechnic University. I want to study journalism at Fudan University.
